The Change Agent

The WHAT, WHY and HOW I became The Change Agent.

give it a go (1)

Yep… I am letting you know right up front what my true nature is, so you know that I’m the REAL DEAL.

“Know yourself, Trust yourself and Live a larger story…” that my creed in life.

I am – 20% The Risk Taker Worldly Archetype

Having this as my flawed character can feel a little daunting at times, but I now see it’s also a huge part of my creative process. Being creative can be viewed as messy, risky business. My early childhood was often an addictive, disruptive and dysfunctional environment, coupled with deep love, humor, affection and care… As hard as it was in a challenging environment, I was still able to developed a strong impulse toward a higher level of order; I was looking for a higher order of interpretation and connection. From this I developed a dynamic, spontaneous and creative nature, which developed the skill of Pattern Recognition and Trend Forecasting.

Definition of Pattern Recognition – involves identification of faces, objects, words, images, sounds etc. The visual system does more than just interpret forms, contours and colors. Pattern recognition refers to the process of recognizing a set of energy patterns arranged in a certain pattern that is characteristic of that set of stimuli or prototype. Pattern recognition does not occur instantly, although it does happen automatically and spontaneously.

Definition of Trend Forecasting – is the practice of observing information; behaviors, lifestyles, needs and choices and then attempting to spot a pattern, or trend, in the information. It can be applied to commercial and social environments and aides in the development of contemporary culture. Trend forecasting is observation and application.

I am – 80% The Change Agent Modern Archetype

A Change Agent lives life with vision and action. Regardless of what is going on today, a change agent has a vision of what could or should be and uses that as the governing sense of action. To a certain extent, a change agent is dissatisfied with what they see around them, in favor of a much better vision of the future. Without this future drive, the change agent can lose their way.

A Change Agent is fueled by passion, and inspires passion in others. Change is hard work and takes a lot of energy. Don’t underestimate this. In my experience, without passion, it is very difficult indeed to muster up enough energy to breakdown the stronghold of the status quo.

A Change Agent has a strong ability to self-motivate. There will be many days where everyone around does not understand and will not offer props. The change agent needs to find it within themselves to get up every day and come to work and risk being misunderstood and unappreciated, knowing that the real validation may be far in the future and may be claimed by someone else.

A Change Agent must understand people. Because at the end of the day, change is about people. If you change everything but the people, you are not an effective change agent. Change will really “stick” when people embrace it. Therefore, change is part sales, part counseling and part encouragement. It’s all about people. Today’s most powerful avenue for the Change Agent is in the areas of Social Enterprise, Arts, Media, Technology and above all Community.

When all these areas are in affirmative action, we can bring about social change.
