The New Black Moon in Capricorn: Legacy, Purpose, and Destiny

Jimmy Carter, Bob Dylan, and A Complete Unknown Starring Timothée Chalamet

As I sit with the energy of the New Black Moon in Capricorn, three things have been stirring in my thoughts—the passing of Jimmy Carter, the upcoming film A Complete Unknown starring Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan, and this rare lunar moment that invites us to pause and reflect.

Each of these has touched me in different ways, yet together, they form a larger story about legacy, purpose, and stepping into destiny.

The Black Moon—A Portal for Renewal

A New Moon always feel like a doorways to me—an opportunity to reset, reimagine, and begin again. But Black Moons, with their rarity and depth, feel even more potent. This one, arriving in Capricorn, carries the weight of structure, discipline, and long-term vision.

Capricorn’s energy feels like a quiet but steady call to get serious about what I’m building—not just for today but for years to come. It’s as though this moon is asking me to plant seeds, knowing they may take time to grow, but trusting they’ll stand strong when they do.

As the year closes and new year dawns I find myself asking:

  • What am I committed to creating?
  • What legacy am I shaping with my choices?

Jimmy Carter—A Legacy of Integrity

When I heard about Jimmy Carter’s passing, I couldn’t help but reflect on the life he lived—a life rooted in service, humility, and unwavering integrity.

His words resonate deeply with me:

“It’s up to every one of us to make a basic decision, this is the kind of person that I want to be.”- Jimmy Carter

That line keeps circling in my mind. It feels like a Capricorn mantra—clear, steady, and intentional. It reminds me that the structures I’m building aren’t just external; they’re internal too. Who I choose to be, day after day, shapes not only my legacy but the way I show up for others.

Bob Dylan and A Complete Unknown

Then there’s Bob Dylan—the restless seeker, the voice that reshaped a generation. The upcoming movie A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet, captures the story of Dylan’s rise from obscurity to cultural icon. It’s an archetypal tale of reinvention and stepping into purpose—qualities that feel especially relevant under this Black Moon.

Dylan’s words echo this sense of stepping into destiny:

“I’d come from a long ways off and had started a long ways down. But now destiny was about to manifest itself. I felt like it was looking right at me and nobody else.”- Bob Dylan

There’s something raw and true about that moment—the sense of destiny staring right at you. It reminds me that beginnings often feel uncertain, but they’re also filled with possibility. Like Dylan, I’m learning to trust those moments when something bigger than myself seems to be calling.

And Timothée Chalamet accepting to embody Dylan in the film A Complete Unknown makes me reflect even more deeply on what it means to step into our own larger story, uncertain but determined to follow the rhythm of our soul.

Aligning with the Black Moon’s Energy

This Black Moon feels like an invitation to ground oneself, get clear, and commit to what matters most.

I’m taking time to do the following and I invite you to also take up this moment:

  • Set Intentions with Purpose—defining not just what I want to create but why it matters.
  • Embrace Discipline and Patience—remembering that lasting change takes time and steady effort.
  • Release Old Patterns—letting go of beliefs or habits that no longer align with who I’m becoming.
  • Trust the Journey—knowing that even when the path isn’t clear, it’s unfolding exactly as it should.

Stepping into the Next Chapter

There’s something about this moment—the combination of Carter’s legacy, Dylan’s rise as told in A Complete Unknown, and the energy of this lunar cycle—that feels like a reminder to trust the work I’m doing. It’s easy to get caught up in results, but Capricorn teaches me that the process—the slow, steady building—is just as important.

So, as I move into this next chapter, I’m letting the Black Moon guide me. I’m choosing to show up with integrity, like Carter, and trust my instincts, like Dylan.

And I’m committing to the long game—to planting seeds now that will grow into something meaningful later.

This moon feels like the perfect time to honour the past, embrace the present, and step boldly into the future. Whatever comes next, I’m ready to build it—one intention, one step, and one act of faith at a time.
